Annual Harvest in the Valley of the Roses

Annual Harvest in the Valley of the Roses

The Moroccan rose harvest in the Valley of the Roses, located in the M’Goun Valley, is an eagerly anticipated event that takes place annually between April and mid-May. The valley, known for its Rosa damascena, produces between 3,000 and 4,000 tonnes of wild roses during this period, which are harvested early in the morning or late afternoon to preserve their fragrance. The roses are used to produce a variety of products, including rosewater, essential oils, and perfumes, which are highly sought after for their use in cosmetics and culinary products. The harvest is crucial for the local economy, as it provides income for the community and supports small cooperatives that produce and export these items both within Morocco and internationally.

Rose oil offers numerous benefits for the skin, including anti-aging properties, hydration, and soothing effects. It contains antioxidants that neutralize free radicals, preventing damage to skin cells and reducing the signs of premature aging. The anti-inflammatory properties of rose oil help soothe irritated skin, reduce redness, and calm conditions like eczema and rosacea.

Rose oil is also beneficial for skin hydration and regeneration. It can stimulate the expression of the collagen-I gene, which helps tighten tissues and limit skin sagging. Additionally, rose oil protects the skin from external aggressors that accelerate aging by combating oxidative stress.

Moreover, rose oil has aromatherapeutic properties that can reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, sadness, fatigue, and tension, thereby balancing both emotions and hormones. This can contribute to overall skin health and well-being.

We order a fresh batch of rose oil from the harvest every year and hope to have it in soon to make up a fresh batch of Rose Argan Oil.
