Hi Lena, thanks so much for your review and we're sorry to hear you weren't feeling the BFM. It definitely has a distinct smell...this is our one product where the ingredients were chosen for their effectiveness and not so much for their fragrance. Also, it should not hurt or sting, but an active tingling sensation is completely normal. Those with sensitive skin can sometimes find it a bit uncomfortable though, and in that case we suggest using it for less than the recommended 10 minutes (start with 5 or 6 min.) If we can persuade you to give it another try, here are a few tips that may help:
- Use only a small amount. A very thin layer is all you need. You should still be able to see your skin underneath the mask, it should not be opaque.
- When removing, warm to hot water works best. (Not so hot that you'll burn your face of course, but cool water doesn't work as well.) Also, using your damp facecloth, wiping off in one direction (as opposed to circular motions) seems to work best. I also like to rinse the facecloth between wipes so the product doesn't build up on the cloth. Wipe-rinse-wipe-rinse ;)
- A little bit of a film on the skin afterword is nothing to worry about, it's most likely a little left over oil, which your skin will happily absorb. But we've also found that following the mask with our Facial Cleansing Oil is lovely. You can use a few drops of the FCO as an after-mask serum, or, you can use the FCO as a cleanser to remove any left over mask residue.
