Vancouver Sun Interview

Q: When and why did you start Leaves of Trees?

A: I started Leaves of Trees at the end of 2012. I have always had a passion for luxury skin care and I started making products for myself and for my friends which were both luxurious and which contained only high-quality natural ingredients.

Q: How is it different from other skin care brands?

A: Leaves of Trees combines good science and good design with the highest quality organic, unrefined raw materials which we can source ethically to produce products which are luxurious and effective. Our products are modern apothecary with a pinch of Morocco and other exotic flavours. Many of the products are actually based on unrefined argan oil which we get from a women’s cooperative in Morocco. This oil moisturizes without leaving you feeling greasy and is full of anti-oxidants to reduce the skin damage caused by free radicals.

Q: I have to ask, what’s the story behind the name?

A: When I started Leaves of Trees I was experimenting with eco-friendly textile design. I was making silk scarves which I dyed naturally using fallen leaves from trees that I found. I thought that Leaves of Trees was a fitting name for both my textile design and my skincare line.
